Cutting & Grinding, Grinding and Cutting!
What we're doing now; with the new sawmill up and running, there has been a lot of cutting and grinding here at the Wood Anchor site! Our sawmill may look like an instrument of death but I promise you that we do not use it in that manner!
Shown above is the grinding of wood waste that will be used for mulching & composting.

Serving up a "La Cuisine" at The Winnipeg Folk Festival
Its been about four weeks since the enormously successful Winnipeg Folk Festival has ended. This year an estimated 2000 volunteers were served free meals for their contributions to the festival. I wonder how many people noticed the new building dubbed "La Cuisine" while they waited anxiously in line for their food!
As a volunteer photographer this year, I had an opportunity to snap a few photos of the cool industrial & environmentally sustainable building.
The decking is reclaimed Manitoba Oak, and the benching around the reclaimed Cedar Hydro poles was constructed with Reclaimed Cedar.
The bulk of building has been built out re-purposed materials such as steel beams, and the Cedar Hydro poles. An amazing fact about this building that makes this building highly sustainable towards the environment is that it was built on removable screw piles. No concrete was used for the foundation thus allowing the ability for the building to be moved our of Birds Hill Provincial Park if need be! Way to be sustainable WFF!
