DIY - OSMO wood floor finishing how to video's!

We get quite a few phone calls from our customers who buy our unfinished reclaimed wood flooring and want to apply the OSMO wood finishing product to their floor DIY method. It can be an earful for the end user if they have never finished flooring before so here are some videos to help guide you along.

How to prepare a wood surface to be finished with OSMO Polyx Original Hardwax Oil (3054)

As you can see, you will need to prep your floor before you apply your first quote! Common sense but better safe than sorry! Fairly straight forward.

Applying OSMO Polyx Original Hardwax Oil (3054)

The application of OSMO Polyx 3054 is simple as well. Just be aware of pouring a large amount onto the floor (it will leave a mark if you`re not careful!). There's no need to rush your job! Many ask what type of brush is needed. Understandably OSMO brushes will work best. Otherwise go with a high quality thick bristled brush. Make sure you wrap up your brush REALLY good between coats. Otherwise it'll dry out and you'll end up buying another one. When you're finished the application, clean your brush with the OSMO Brush Cleaner. Available brush sizes are 400mm brush for large areas and 220mm for smaller areas.

Repairing a surface finished with OSMO Polyx Hardwax Oil (3054)

How amazing is OSMO Polyx? It's beyond amazing! How many products out there allow you to repair accidents with out refinishing the entire floor?

Maintaining surfaces finished with OSMO Polyx Hardwax Oil (3054)

Maintaining your newly finished floor has never been easier! Regular dusting with our OSMO dry mop is great and a full clean 1-2 times a year is all you need. There you have it. If you have any further questions please feel free to call us toll free at 866-582-7771 or by email at info@woodanchor.com and visit our website for all OSMO MSDS info. Sustainability beyond conventional.

Environmentally friendly wood floors. Many of you have come to know that Wood Anchor specializes in reclaimed or landfill diverted flooring. But for those of you that are new to Wood Anchor may ask,"what is that?" In short, we reclaim wood from old buildings and save trees that are destined for the landfills and manufacture it into wood flooring. Allowing it's true beauty to once again"shine"!

We feel we've missed the mark on another service that we "shine" with. One that allows us to help define the idea of reclaimed wood products. This idea really involves the customer because with out you, this service would not exist. There are a number of people who go beyond just purchasing their wood product from a chain store. They are the the group that have a unique vision in creating something for themselves. And for that we have Further.

Further is Wood Anchors custom millwork division. Our team is here to help the "wood working" customer who is interested in bringing their concept to a reality. Click here for details and pics!

"Got wood" you need cut? Wood Anchor will do that for you! If there is a a large piece of wood that you need cut, bring it by our milling site and we'll cut it to the dimensions that you require for your project. Click here for details.

If there's something you would like to build with wood and need a little help bringing it to life, feel free to give us a ring. We love being a part of someones art!

Home is eco friendly and efficient.

There was an article on the weekend that caught my attention in the "Living Green" section of the Winnipeg Free Press. It was part of the section titled "Home is eco friendly and efficient". I had an opportunity to see  this house during construction and I must say that the final finish is outstanding!  I've seen some finishes that were not visually appealing. This one does not disappoint!

Although not stated, Wood Anchor provided the Reclaimed Engineered Elm wood flooring, Reclaimed Elm wood stair treads, and Reclaimed Elm wood railings. We also provided the Amish Oak barn door as well. I believe these were all prefinished before the product went in. We used our OSMO finish which as you can see in the Free Press photos gives the flooring a beautiful low sheen finish!

Pictured above is a photo of another house showcasing
Reclaimed Elm wood floors & Reclaimed Elm railings.

Full compliments to Dueck homes for their forward thinking on building green! We all need home builders and buyers to start thinking how we can all make an environmental impact on this world for the better. This is a great start!

For copyright reasons, I did not up load the pictures to this blog but I do suggest having a look at the great article by clicking on this link...Living Green

Wood Anchor TV - It's Alive!! It's Alive!!

I guess there was a running joke about the U of M/Smart Park windmill not working? People would ask, "why isn't that thing working?" answer, "because they haven't plugged it in yet". Wahahahaha. Funny...to me. Oh well. It's working! Good on U of M/Smart Park!

Provinces Spotlight Iconic Attributes!

Provinces Spotlight Iconic Attributes. Wow, that's an impressive statement! Here is is folks, the first article in a green publication regarding Centreplace Manitoba. The Canadian Journal of Green Build & Design featured an article on the Manitoba built pavilion.

The article focuses on aspects of Manitoba Elm trees. Here's an excerpt of the article below. Click on the picture for the full article.

~ "We used around 100 trees to create some 7,000 board feet of timber for this project. This means 100 trees that were kept out of the landfills" he say's adding that they also used OSMO deck oil, an environmentally sensitive preserving coat made plant oil. ~

AMPED!

We haven't received our official pics for the MB Centreplace Pavilion yet but I did find them on the Cibinel Architects website when I did a search. Preliminary pics have gotten us amped!

Have a look at their photos posted on their website at Cibinel Architects

The construction looks stellar! You'll notice our Elm Wood Soffits once you click on link. Here's a list of what you will also see in the Pavilion. Our contemporary Reclaimed Urban Elm Wood will be featured on the sustainable building's decking, soffit, door jambs, and timber wood bench. As well as our wood product on 6'10" x 16' door, 8' x 3' door, and 8'x 4' 2x3/8" door.

Here's a sample look at our Reclaimed Elm Wood Decking and Reclaimed Elm Wood Soffits below. (Please forgive me for the crude pics I snapped from my IPhone)

We`ve been receiving a lot of requests about decking and soffits lately. Siding too! Our decking was used at last years Solar Decathlon. The look of the Reclaimed Elm Wood decking is simply amazing! I`ll put up better photos the next time I bring in my good camera. For more news click here... Manitoba Pavilion wins Vancouver Olympic Award!
