Hope for Haiti now concert.

Amidst this blizzard that we sit through which really isn't a blizzard at all, it's easy to forget what's going on in the rest of the world. I was just thinking how crappy the weather is today and remembered what I did past Friday evening.  I like any others, watched the Hope for Haiti Concert. And for the first time, as an avid music lover, I really did not watch the music. It was pain full to watch the Haitians in such turmoil notably the children.

Now there haven't been any concrete statistical numbers on how much was raised but I did hear there was about $16 million from the US broadcast and $9 million from the CDN broadcast. Although my wife and I donated, you're left feeling like it's never enough. You end up wishing you could be there to give a hand. I really hope that the leaders of the world can combine their efforts to help rebuild their world to be a much better place.
Love and hope to all. - Ray

Turning Wood into bones.

Here's an interesting with how wood can be used in medical world. Very cool and very promising to those who break bones frequently! Here's a little excerpt below and the link to the website below.

A novel - and natural - way of creating new bones for humans could be just a few years away.
Scientists in Italy have developed a way of turning rattan wood into bone that is almost identical to the human tissue. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8446637.stm

2010: Balance

Well I hope that everyone had a great holiday. I know I did. First time I had time off and felt well rested. The Wood Anchor Team took a little break. The majority of the industry seems to slow down a bit and that's ok. 2009 seemed to be a trying year.

It's almost mid January and it seems to be flying by! What is it with schedules, committed engagements with friends and family, and birthdays that make the year disappear so quickly? In my family alone there's an occasion or two once or twice of every month for the entire year!! How do you juggle it all? That alone is a load! But...it really is a good one. I guess that is what makes life so great!

I have never been a person to create any resolutions in the New Year. Are you one of those people? There are things I would like to accomplish but I really don't adhere to a strict time line. Working here has given me a new appreciation for wood working. The crew here make amazing works of art and I hope to make some of my own! My wife and I want a Wood Anchor dining room and coffee table. I've been preparing myself mentally because going to attempt them with my own bare hands, sweat and blood and all! That's how the crew does it in the shop. PURE PASSION! Love it!

Maybe I can convince J to have a "build your own table workshop" for customers. Hmmm. Not a bad idea...
Here's a pic I just snapped that the guys are working on. There's 9 foot and 10 footer there. Beautiful!

I feel like this is the year to really live! Work can tie you're mind down but it doesn't have to be that way. And how do you achieve that you ask? Balance. Find your balance everyone.
