We're getting close to finishing up our table orders for the year! Here's a lovely reclaimed Fir timber table, stained a dark walnut and coated with our standard finish, OSMO Polyx Hardwax Oil. This table is 64" long by 34" wide.

Not sure if this is a Christmas gift but it gonna make someone happy!

Province of Manitoba Supports 13 Projects in Waste Reduction

December 13, 2011 -- The Province of Manitoba’s Conservation Minister Dave Chomiak announced this year’s Waste Reduction and Pollution Prevention (WRAPP) Fund with a total of $154,793 dispersed on 13 projects aimed at improving waste reduction and pollution prevention practices.

“Our company is pleased to work together with Manitoba Conservation to create innovative solutions to waste diversion in Manitoba,” said J Neufeld, co-owner of Wood Anchor.  “With the support received through the WRAPP fund, we are thrilled to increase our capacity to establish sustainable solutions to waste diversion in the province.”

The WRAPP fund supports improved waste reduction and pollution prevention practices in Manitoba.  Priority areas are organic waste management and composting, construction and demolition waste management, pollution prevention, and waste management system development and planning.

The minister noted the WRAPP Fund has been instrumental in Manitoba’s waste reduction efforts.  Since 1999, Manitobans have recycled more than 737,909 tonnes of material, equal to almost 100,000 full garbage trucks.  In 2010, Manitobans recycled more than 72,000 tonnes of paper, aluminum, glass and plastic.

A total of 282 projects have been supported with more than $4.75 million in grants from the WRAPP Fund since its creation in 2000.  Information on the fund is available at www.susdev.gov.mb.ca.

This timber table doesn't need any Sprucing up!!

Reclaimed Spruce Timber Table 90"l x 40"w. Tabletop thickness 2".

This table went out just in time for the holidays! I'm sure it will be getting a lot of use and a lot of great memories will be made at all the friend and family gatherings. The Spruce use for this beauty was reclaimed from a Hamiota Manitoba grain elevator. Definitely one of a kind!

Wood Anchor, Winner of the 2011 MEIA Green Dragon's Lair Award!

Wood Anchor co-owner J Neufeld participated in the 2nd annual The Green Dragons’ Lair held yesterday evening at the Fort Garry Hotel. As a result of presenting Wood Anchor's product and the philosophy, J Neufeld came out on top as winner of the coveted Green Dragons’ Lair Award!

The Manitoba Environmental Industries Association’s Emerging Issues conference is a high-profile, well-regarded event within the environmental industry sector.

The Green Dragons’ Lair is a part of the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association (MEIA) Emerging Issues annual conference. The Lair was held during the final reception of the day long conference, offering select local Manitoba entrepreneurs and innovators the opportunity to pitch their product to MEIA, the Manitoba Eco Network, and Climate Change Connection.

The panel of journalist judges included Richard Cloutier of CJOB, Laura Rance of the Manitoba Cooperator, Mychaylo Prystupa of CBC TV, and Martin Cash of the Winnipeg Free Press. The participants were given 3 minutes to capture the judges’ attention and compete for the coveted Green Dragon’s Lair Braggin’ Dragon Award.
